Applying for a job | ||||
Selling yourself
When applying for a job, you need an effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) and covering letter. To be effective, your CV and covering letter should be customised to each job. Further, the document should clearly demonstrate how you meet the job's selection criteria. A helpful method of drafting effective CVs and covering letters is to develop an ongoing system of resources for yourself by building a portfolio. Below are some examples of job advertisements listing their selection criteria. There are also samples of students' CVs, statements addressing selection criteria and covering letters. Whilst we have tried to provide a wide range of examples of each, we recommend you take the ideas you like, and leave those you don't when developing your own job application documents.
